The popular television show "American Idol" is such a significant event that it now merits its own pre-show.
Similar to the red carpet show for the Academy Awards, the TV Guide channels will now present an hour long live pre-show before each of the remaining "American Idol" telecasts for the rest of this Idol season.
Beginning Tuesday, "Idol Tonight" on the TV Guide channel will feature appearances by rejected "Idol" contestants and previous "Idol" stars.
The live pre-show will also feature interviews with vocal coaches, casting agents and industry insiders. Exclusive footage, including auditions, outtakes and post-performance confessions, will also be shown on the weekly program, a show publicist said Monday.

And they keep the romantic fires burning the old-fashioned way — by dating! "Once a week, they go out on a date — just the two of them," a friend of the couple tells Star. "They feel it's important to get away, even if it's just for a couple of hours one evening a week.
Reese says it keeps them grounded."And with their careers in high orbit thanks to her award-winning turn in Walk the Line and Ryan's role in the Best Picture-winner Crash, it's all the more important that their marriage remains strong.
"They are both from family-oriented homes, and they want to make sure they stay together and not become another Hollywood divorce casualty," their friend tells Star. Of course, Reese, 29, and Ryan, 31, relish family time at home with their two children, daughter Ava, 6, and son Deacon, 2.
When they take the kids out, it's usually to Burger King. But for a romantic dinner alone, their favorite "date places" are Toscana and Pizzicotto, two Italian restaurants near their home in Brentwood, Calif. "Date nights give them a chance to talk to each other and reconnect."

Eva Longoria says she's not ready to tie the knot with her boyfriend NBA star Tony Parker. "No, no, no. But we know exactly what we want in our future," the Desperate Housewives star says of rumors of marriage.
However, she would consider having a child out of wedlock with Tony. "I would," the 31-year-old actress tells Allure. "But Tony won't.... He's only been with one other person in his life." She adds, "I'm the experienced one. I'm the teacher, especially about love. He's always telling me he's never met anyone who loves the way I do — wholly and freely and unconditionally."

Donald Trump's wife gave birth to a boy Monday, the billionaire developer announced.
"Everyone's perfect," Trump said in a telephone interview on MSNBC's "Imus in the Morning," about 20 minutes after the arrival of his fifth child.
Trump, 59, said the new baby was already making him feel younger.
"I continue to stay young, right? I produce children, I stay young," he said.
Melania Knauss Trump, 35, was in labor for eight hours with her first child. Her spokeswoman, Courtney Houghton, said the boy had been named Barron William Trump.
The tycoon's first wife, Ivana Trump, is the mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric, who are all in their 20s. Preteen Tiffany is the daughter of Trump's second wife, Marla Maples.
Messages left for a Knauss spokeswoman Monday were not immediately returned.
Knauss Trump is a model and commercial actress. The couple married in January 2005.
The Slovenian-born model has appeared in numerous print ads and graced the covers of Vogue and British GQ magazines. Trump's reality show "The Apprentice," is in its fifth cycle.
