Oscar®'s Fabulous Fashion!

Dramatic hues, dazzling bling and old Hollywood glamour ruled the red carpet at the 78th Annual Academy Awards® on Sunday as stars like KEIRA KNIGHTLEY, CHARLIZE THERON and REESE WITHERSPOON showed off their fabulous fashion sense on Tinseltown's top night! Our fashion guru STEVEN COJOCARU reveals the hits and misses of the night.

Leading the pack in the rich-colored-dress trend was Best Actress nominee Keira Knightley, who pulled out all the dramatic stops in a plum-hued, one-shouldered, form-fitting frock with a mermaid bottom. "I can't actually walk, but I can stand rather well," she joked on the red carpet. But just as attention-grabbing as the dress was her ornate necklace with blue, red and white gems.

"That was perfect," he says of the 'Pride & Prejudice' star's ensemble. "From the shoulders to the jewelry to the dress to the color to the shape -- she was pure movie star."
Also going for a deep tint was Charlize Theron, who was draped in a contemporary-cut, steel green, DIOR. "The drama of that big bow -- I like big, dramatic, over-the-top," Cojo says. "This was pure couture ... a complicated runway dress."

Also looking gorgeous in green was JENNIFER LOPEZ. "The color of that dress, the glamour of that dress -- [she] is every inch the movie star," Cojo says.

'Junebug''s AMY ADAMS channeled her inner-'50s debutante with her chocolate-colored ball gown and eye-catching diamond drop earrings, and presenter SANDRA BULLOCK chose a classy, navy blue, strapless number accented with hip pockets.

Some starlets decided on eye-popping shades like presenter JESSICA ALBA, who looked like a million bucks in a gold, halter-topped gown with intricate embroidery. "She elevated herself as a movie star because she was so glamorous," Cojo says. "Liquid gold with the lace, beautiful hair up with the diamonds -- exquisite."

Best Supporting Actress nominee MICHELLE WILLIAMS went for a daring, '40s-inspired VERA WANG tangerine dress with a flowing tulle train and feathery, plunging neckline and JADA PINKETT SMITH donned a strapless, cobalt blue ROBERTO CAVALLI. "That color, that vivid blue and the cut!" Cojo gushes about Pinkett's dress. "She looked seven feet tall."

But many stars skipped the colorful and dramatic and went for light and airy. 'Walk the Line''s Reese Witherspoon shined in a beaded, white dress with a V-neck and full-bottom and new mom JENNIFER GARNER sparkled in an ivory MICHAEL KORS creation. "She looked sensational after the baby," Cojo says of the "Alias" actress. "She developed a lovely cleavage -- I thought she was SOPHIA LOREN in her hey day."

Presenter NICOLE KIDMAN was understated and chic with a strapless, ivory gown and flowing, straight hair, while her good friend and fellow presenter NAOMI WATTS was draped in tulle in a multi-textured nude GIVENCHY ensemble. But Cojo wasn't crazy about the frock. "It was so pale," he comments.

Also not getting raves from Cojo was the legendary DOLLY PARTON and HELENA BONHAM CARTER. "On top of her head was a possum that got stuck on her head," he says not-so-subtley.

Keeping with tradition, many actresses stuck with a red-carpet favorite: black. 'Transamerica''s FELICITY HUFFMAN wore a slightly sheer, ZAC POSEN gown showing her sexy side with a lower-than-low neckline with wide straps, while momma-to-be RACHEL WEISZ kept it simple in a floor-length gown with modern shoulder straps and an empire waist to accentuate her baby belly.

And while many of the men stuck with the classic black tuxedo, presenter JAMIE FOXX turned it up a notch with a slick suit accented with a shimmery teal shirt!
