BACK DOWN UNDER
"We have come home to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends," Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban said in a statement upon landing June 19 in their native Australia for their nuptials, which took place Sunday evening. In a nod to traditionalism, they stayed in separate homes before the ceremony.
FAMILY TIE
Kidman's kids Connor, 11, and Isabella, 13, joined Mom for her big day, and spent Friday at sea bonding with stepdad-to-be Urban and his family. The previous day, after flying in from Tokyo (where they'd been with dad Tom Cruise on a publicity trip), they accompanied Kidman to a Sydney children's hospital.
THE BIG REVEAL
It was only in May, after a gala for UNIFEM, that Kidman admitted to PEOPLE what was long speculated. The actress, a goodwill ambassador for the program, said of Urban: "He's actually my fiancé. I wouldn't be bringing my boyfriend."
COUNTRY LIVING
Kidman spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with country singer Urban at his Nashville home. "She's very much at ease (here)," said a local. "They can be alone and not bothered. It's a great thing for them." The couple (on Nov. 26) lead a low-key life in the southern city, reading the paper at Starbucks and dropping into eatery Bread & Company.
MUTUAL RESPECT
Kidman (in Shanghai on June 17) has continued to make movies (including the thriller The Visiting), but she's also Urban's No. 1 fan: During his performance at the CMA Music Festival on June 8 (right), she glowed as she watched him backstage. And she was a fixture on his "Keith's Alive in '05" tour. "They were inseparable," says a source.
PUBLIC AFFECTION
"They're very loving together," says a source of the couple (at an Oscar party). "He holds her hand the whole time and pats the top of her other hand at the same time. It's adorable." The two first met in January 2005 at an L.A. event. By July their romance took off: They were spotted motorcycling around Woodstock, N.Y., and dining at cozy nooks in Litchfield, Conn.
A RING TO IT
In November, Kidman was first seen wearing a diamond sparkler on her ring finger during a trip to Boston with Urban. "Right now, it's just a rumor," Urban's rep told PEOPLE at the time about an engagement, though the rock would stay put.
REAL LOVE
"He's very good to me," Kidman says of Urban (in Sydney on June 19). Her pals agree: "I'm very excited for my friend," Naomi Watts told reporters. Fellow Aussies Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe also attended their nuptials. "Real love just happens," says another pal of the actress. "And that's what happened with them. They fell in love."
