The stunning actress has put out feelers to The View's co-executive producer, Barbara Walters, about replacing Meredith Vieira when she departs for the Today show later this year to replace Katie Couric, a source exclusively tells Star. "Barbara is flattered that someone as high-profile and with so much character as Lucy would want to be a part of The View," the source tells Star. "The only thing working against Lucy is she probably wouldn't be around for the long haul: She's got a busy film career, and Barbara wants stability on the show as far as the panelists go." Four of Martha's relatives snagged jobs last year at her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, according to recently released financial documents: Her daughter, Alexis, earned $131,000 as radio talent and as a merchandising and publishing adviser; her sister-in-law, Margaret Christiansen, snagged $160,000 as business manager of the company; her brother-in- law, Randy Plimpton, earned $146,000 as property manager; and Martha's sister, Laura Plimpton, was paid a $70,000 consulting fee for "editorial services." The family payout totaled just over $500,000 — about the same amount Martha earned for hosting her reality TV failure, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart!

Jennifer Lopez has gotten reality-show fever and is in negotiations with MTV to star in her own show.
Sources at MTV have confirmed that they are in talks with Lopez, 36, for a still-untitled weekly show that will focus on her real life and also follow dancers who, with J.Lo's guidance, are trying to make it in the dance industry.An insider says the show, which was initially given the title Move, is unstructured as of yet and nothing has been signed as MTV reps are still trading phone calls with J.Lo's Nuyorican Productions company.
"They were looking at old test tapes of her and got some new ideas for a show," says a source. "It is very early in the development of the show and anything could happen at this point."

Newly-single Jessica Simpson is hoping a chance meeting with British popstar James Blunt ends more happily than the brief encounter he croons about in his megahit, "You're Beautiful."
While at the MTV Australia Video Music Awards, says a friend of Jessica, she "was determined to meet him," and gave Blunt, 29, her cell phone number and e-mail address. "She was glowing the rest of the night," says the source. "Obviously Jess goes for the sensitive singers."
And if James doesn't call or email, the source tells Star that Jessica hopes to see James when he's in California for an April 30 gig. Watch out, James... Jessica's on the prowl!

It sure didn't take long for Paris Hilton to recover from her breakup with Stavros Niarchos III!
On Monday night, May 1, just hours before Star's Web site reported the news that she and her billionaire boyfriend had called it quits, Paris was getting mighty cozy with USC quarterback Matt Leinart, Nick Lachey's best friend.
Star's sources spotted Paris, 25, and Matt, 22, snuggling at new Hollywood hotspot Shag on Monday night. Matt had his arm around Paris, who was leaning into him in a VIP booth.
"They looked really into each other," a source tells Star. Matt — who left Paris' side just long enough to chat with Nick, 32, when he arrived with two other guys — even escorted her to the bathroom! Paris' sister Nicky Hilton, 22, and model Caroline D'Amore joined the new couple for part of the evening. Paris and Matt's club outing was the end of a long day spent together.
They were spotted in public — with Paris trying to go unrecognized in big sunglasses framed by a long brunette wig. The couple have been friends for a while.
But their latest outing, coming on the heels of Paris' breakup with Stavros, 21, puts things in a very different light. "If she had a boyfriend, you wouldn't have known it by the way they were acting around one another," says the source.
As Paris and Matt were snuggling in a booth at Shag, Stavros entered the club and spotted the duo. "He walked in, took one look at them, and walked out. He never even talked to them," a source at the club tells Star.
Paris allowed her former flame into her house, where he stayed until a cab picked him up at 2 a.m. So are they back on?
"No way," a source tells Star. -->"Paris has tried to break it off with Stavros since before she went on a business trip to Austria last week, but he can't accept it's over." But it is — over.
Paris was planning to be Matt's date on Tuesday night, May 2, at a party in Las Vegas to celebrate his draft by the NFL's Arizona Cardinals. Looks like this relationship is moving fast!

Who says imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Not the Simpson sisters!
It seems younger sis Ashlee's recent nose job makes her look more like her big sis, Jessica. It's the latest move in a makeover that's seen Ashlee go from dark-haired, ratty rocker to sophisticated blonde. And sources tell Star that Jess, 25, is furious over Ashlee's apparent quest to morph into her more successful sis.
Early on April 21, a source says, Ashlee, 21, arrived at the office of famed Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Raj Kanodia with her parents, Joe and Tina, for a nose job. "Afterward, her parents helped her into a waiting SUV," says the source. And as pictures taken just a week later show, the change is dramatic. "Her nose is thinner and more feminine," says NYC-based plastic surgeon and rhinoplasty specialist Dr. Geoffrey Tobias, who hasn't treated Ashlee.
In other words, more like Jess'. Nose jobs like Ashlee's leave no scarring and little bruising — recovery time is usually just five days.
But while Ashlee may not be black-and-blue, she may feel bruised by Jess' reaction. "Jess was furious Ashlee was having her nose altered," says a source close to Jess. "She said the last thing she wants is her little sister looking just like her."
Why not be flattered? "The older Ashlee gets, the more competitive the sisters have become," says the source of the once-close pair. "Jess is nervous that Ashlee's itching to muscle her way out of second place [in the Simpson family] by going from singer to actress — and starring in a bigger hit than The Dukes of Hazzard." For now, Jess is still the bigger star — but perhaps just by a nose!

Big hearted Mariah Carey is so upset by reports of Whitney Houston's widely reported decent into drug addiction that she reportedly has pledged to help the troubled diva!
Mariah has invited her fellow song bird to record a duet on her next album in the hopes that it will bring Whitney the boost she needs to beat her addiction and make a come back.
The once stunning pop star's losing battle with crack cocaine has been widely publicized and Mariah, whose own struggles have met with media scrutiny, is most sympathetic. "My heart goes out to her, she's such an immense talent. I'm right there for her," says 35-year-old Mariah, who went through her own public breakdown, hospitalizing herself for "exhaustion" in July 2001, then confirming through her publicist that she was also receiving psychiatric treatment."
But her latest come-back album, The Emancipation of Mimi, has been a huge success. Her wild ride up and down the Hollywood success ladder has clearly left Mariah empathetic to Whitney. But there's no word yet if Whitney has accepted the invitation. And Mariah's camp has declined to confirm that the generous offer was made.

Tom Cruise: 'I Can't Wait to Get Married'

Father's Day came early to the Late Show with David Letterman, where on Tuesday night new dad Tom Cruise gushed about baby Suri – and his fiancée, Katie Holmes. "She's a beauty – it's crazy," he said of his two-week-old daughter.
Letterman, himself an unwed dad to 2-year-old Harry, interjected, "By the way, you're not married." "Did you have to bring it up?" Cruise shot back, then added, "I can't wait to get married." He was mum on the details, though he has said he and Holmes plan to wed sometime this summer.
As the two men discussed the joys and responsibilities of fatherhood, Letterman asked his guest to describe the arrival of his baby. Said Cruise: "It's exciting and kind of surreal because, all of a sudden, it's happening.
Suddenly there's going to be this other person, and I found myself wanting to relish every moment and not forget it." Was the delivery a long process, Letterman wondered? "No," said Cruise. "It happened quickly." Cruise also said the baby is now up to 7 lbs., 10 oz., has a lot of hair, and remains at home with her mother, while he travels to promote his new movie, Mission: Impossible III, which opens Friday.
"Kate and I can't take our eyes off of her," said Cruise, who added that Holmes's mother and his own are providing most of the baby advice they require. Of Holmes, Cruise said, "She's magnificent. She has done so well … an incredible woman."
"She's so good looking," commented Letterman. "That's the first thing I noticed," replied Cruise. On Wednesday, Cruise continued his publicity blitz, appearing on Live with Regis and Kelly. As for how he and Katie share parenting tasks: "She's a woman so she does the womanly things,” Cruise said, indicating breastfeeding.
His duties, he said, include burping the baby and changing diapers. Of the lack of sleep that comes with having an infant, Cruise laughed, "I don’t sleep much anyway." The same morning, he appeared on Good Morning America, where he said of his daughter, "Suri, she's very strong. She's kicking."
He added that he feared she'd kick herself off the changing table as he reached for diapers. After his interview, Cruise told PEOPLE that Suri "is just so beautiful. So beautiful."
On how Holmes is doing, he said, "She's doing spectacular." Cruise will continue promoting his new movie on Wednesday by zipping through Manhattan via fire engine, speedboat, helicopter, sports car and subway to do interviews and attend the film’s New York premiere.

Teri Hatcher says she hasn't seen American Idol host Ryan Seacrest since they were photographed kissing in March, prompting rumors that they were a couple. "I haven't seen him since that day," Hatcher said on Tuesday's Oprah Winfrey Show.
"So all the stuff about everything else is just made up." She added that, on the day of the smooch – their third date, but first time out alone – Seacrest called and told her, "I don't think I can do this with you." When Winfrey asked why he made that decision, Hatcher answered, "I don't know. … I ate too much lobster? …You'd have to ask him."
As for her alleged romance with George Clooney, "That was really fabricated," she said. "We went to one dinner back in December, and that was it. … No kissing."
Hatcher was on Winfrey's show to promote her new memoir, Burnt Toast, which she says is "an expression that came out of my mouth when I was doing a Barbara Walters special. I was sort of explaining what I do, which is, you know, that I eat the burnt toast.
I take what is last." In the book, Hatcher discusses being a single mother and looking for a committed relationship. She also says that her marriage to her now ex-husband, actor Jon Tenney, was nearly sexless. She told Winfrey she could pinpoint the day they conceived their daughter, Emerson Rose, now 8, because "that was the only time we had sex that year."
Hatcher attributes some of the intimacy problems she's had with men to the abuse she suffered at the hands of her uncle, Richard Stone, as a child. Thanks to Hatcher's testimony, Stone is now serving 14 years for molesting another girl.
Today, Hatcher is ready for fulfilling relationship – in every way. "(I) really want to find somebody that I can trust and go deep with and (have) crazy wild sex," she told Winfrey. Hatcher also cleared the air about other rumors plaguing her: "No catfights on the (Desperate Housewives) set. I'm not anorexic. I don't make $285,000 an episode. I haven't renegotiated my contract. I'm not trying to get off the show because I want to do movies."

Britney Cuts Sales Price of NY Apartment

Britney Spears has stepped up plans to sell her downtown Manhattan penthouse, which has been on the market for nearly two years – since before her marriage to Kevin Federline and the birth of their son, Sean Preston.
The 4,000-sq.-ft., three bedroom, four and a half bathroom, four-floor apartment (which also has a media room, library and terrace), has a new asking price of $4.55 million, reduced from the previous $4.95 million, reports the New York Observer and confirmed by the pop princess's real-estate broker.
Spears, 24, bought the apartment in 2002 for $3 million and then put it on the market in 2004 – for $6 million, says the paper. Last year the price came down to $4.95 million. The latest reduction is new. "At this price, it's an extremely attractive purchase for the spring – a time to enjoy the terrace," says realtor Adam Modler.
Previous owners of Spears's pad were Rolling Stone Keith Richards and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, while Cher was once also a neighbor. As for what attracts music people to the building, it could be that its ground floor is taken up with a sort of retail landmark: Tower Records.
