At 11 p.m on April 8, Jessica Simpson boarded a United flight from L.A. bound for Sydney, Australia, where she met up with her father, Joe, and younger sister, Ashlee, 21, for the MTV Australia Music Awards 2006. Meanwhile, at about the same time, her best friend and assistant, CaCee Cobb, was flirting with a tall, handsome man at a Las Vegas nightclub.
The problem? The guy in question was none other than Jess' soon-to-be ex, Nick Lachey!
JUST FRIENDS? According to eyewitnesses, Nick, 32, and CaCee, 28, met up at Vegas hotspot Pure. While most women would expect their best friend to give an ex the cold shoulder, CaCee seemed happy to see Nick.
Though his rep denies they're anything more than friends, the pair reportedly had eyes only for each other. So what does it mean? "The fact that Nick and CaCee were spending time together says a lot," a source says. "The fact that CaCee was flirting with Nick when she knew Jess was thousands of miles away speaks volumes."
