X Factor’s JLS on verge of signing record contract

JLS are said to be on the verge of signing a multi-million pound record contract with music giants Sony BMG.

The boyband came second to Alexandra Burke in The X Factor and are thought to have been offered their own chance to top the charts.

‘They are going to be without doubt the biggest band we have ever had on this show,’ mentor Louis Walsh tells The Sun.

JLS - JB Gill, Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and Aston Merrygold – narrowly missed out on the top prize and judge Dannii Minogue expects big things from them.

‘The hysteria surrounding them is reminiscent of Take That’s early days,’ she says.

JLS: Will not be managing X Factor finalists

Louis Walsh will not be managing X Factor finalists JLS.

Though he successfully mentored them into the final, the lads are disappointed Louis, 56, isn't going to be steering their career.

Modest Management signs up all the contestants who qualify for the live shows and JLS are tied to that contract.

‘The boys are desperate to go with Louis,’ a source tells The Sun. ‘And he just wants to get them signed up and recording.

‘But at the moment Modest are refusing to let them go.’

JLS - JB Gill, 21, Marvin Humes, 23, Oritse Williams, 21, and Aston Merrygold, 20 - were a huge hit with female fans who are desperate to buy their first single.

‘I am upset,’ says Louis. ‘But JLS are a fantastic bunch of lads.

‘I wish them well.’

JLS will team up with US diva Rihanna to sing mega hit Umbrella

As excitement builds ahead of Saturday's live X Factor final, the established artists lending their expertise to the top three contestants have been revealed. And pop quartet JLS are thrilled after learning they will team up with US diva Rihanna to sing her mega hit Umbrella.

Although not front-runners to win the competition, band members Jonathan Gill, Oritse Williams, Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes are hoping their collaboration with the hugely-popular singer with help them steal victory on the night, as Leon Jackson did last year after dueting with Kylie Minogue.

Meanwhile the favourite, 20-year-old Alexandra Burke, will team up with Irish crooners Westlife, and Northern Ireland's Eoghan Quigg will duet with Boyzone, who reunited this year after a seven-year break. Both the boy bands are managed by the series' judge Louis Walsh.
