Actress will have the op around her 37th birthday

Christina Applegate is to have reconstructive surgery at the end of the month.

The Samantha Who? actress had a double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

‘I still have quite a process until this is done,’ she reveals. ‘Yes, it's hard. It sucks. But I'm not a victim.’

Christina, 36, admits the experience has completely changed her outlook on life.

‘I started looking for a beach house the day I found out I had this little disease,’ she tells TV Guide.

‘You just kind of go, “What are you waiting for to get the things that you want and the things you dream of?”

‘I don't own tomorrow or yesterday - today is all I've got. And if I don't make today good, then I'm only gonna' be pissed off tomorrow!’

Christina Applegate feeling positive after cancer op

Christina Applegate was delighted to dress up for the Emmy Awards following her double mastectomy.

Speaking on the red carpet at the event, the actress said she now appreciates the simple things in life.

‘It’s a great day… I’ve got a pretty dress on and lipstick, and [it’s] something I haven’t done in two months,’ she revealed.

‘Things happen, and you have to sit back and really, really embrace your life.’

Christina, 36, who missed out on an award for Best Actress In A Comedy, said she felt like a winner just being there.

‘I have so many people to thank,’ she told Ryan Seacrest. ‘First of all, I would thank everybody for the overwhelming love and support that I’ve gotten through all of this. It brings tears to my eyes.’

Her Samantha Who? co-star, Jean Smart, who picked up Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy, had nothing but admiration for her friend.

‘I’ve never seen an actress who’s so beloved by her cast and crew,’ she said. ‘I feel very protective of her.’

Actress wanted record of what her boobs looked like

Christina Applegate posed in the buff before getting her breasts removed.

The actress, 36, had a double mastectomy in August after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

‘I did my first and last nudie photoshoot at home,’ she says.

‘I made sure that I have close-up photographs of them from every angle, so I can remember them.’

Christina initially had doubts about the procedure because of her mum's poor mastectomy 30 years ago.

She will begin reconstructive surgery in the next few weeks to get implants.

‘The only thing I've ever seen was my mom,’ she tells Oprah Winfrey. ‘That was in the 70s and they didn't do a very good job.

'I'm thinking, “Oh, my God, I'm going to be butchered and I'm never going to love that part of me again.”

‘But I did a lot of research and they can make some pretty boobies, some very pretty boobies.’

Christina Applegate returns to work after double mastectomy

Actress joins co-stars on Samantha Who?

Christina Applegate is back on set of her US comedy following her breast cancer ordeal.

The Samantha Who? actress underwent a double mastectomy in July after a number of MRI scans.

But she has already returned to work, joining her co-stars on the ABC series recorded in LA.

Christina, 36, is also expected at the Primetime Emmy Awards on 21 September, following her nomination for Lead Actress In A Comedy Series.

Lee Grivas, Christina Applegate's Boyfriend, Found Dead

Lee Grivas, the 26-year-old boyfriend of Christina Applegate, was found dead in his apartment.

He was found on July 1 by a neighbor who found him in the living room of his Hollywood apartment. Grivas was pronounced dead at 5:25 PM.

Although the autopsy has not been completed, we're told there were no visible signs of trauma.

The National Enquirer reports Lee Grivas died of a drug overdose:

Samantha Who star Christina Applegate's boyfriend Lee Grivas was found dead from an apparent heroin overdose on July 1.

Applegate and Grivas, a 26-year-old skateboarder and photographer, had a rocky on-again, off-again relationship due to his continual battle with drugs and alcohol. But the couple had decided to give it one last shot this past April when Grivas made another attempt at getting clean, according to The National Enquirer.

"Lee also had a long history of drug problems, dating back to his teen years. Christina broke up with him a number of times because of his struggles with getting clean. She loved him, but couldn't stand by and watch him ruin his life," according to the Enquirer.

Her latest catch is Alaskan fisherman and aspiring photographer Lee Grivas, whom she met in the fall through a dancer in her Broadway show Sweet Charity.

"We're very happy with each other," Grivas, 24, tells PEOPLE in its upcoming issue. "I like making her smile and she likes making me smile. It's really innocent and fun."

Schaech, who filed divorce papers Dec. 5, seems to be moving on too: He was partying Dec. 17 at the Las Vegas club Seamless. The couple officially separated six months ago.
